If you want really good Mexican food in the Clearwater area, not willing to drive to Tampa, and want a larger variety of Mexican entree's including appetizers and desserts...this is the place to go!! First of all, I love Indian Rocks Beach -it's beautiful. #2 this place is our usual date night dinner stop. And C. The beach is a short 2 minute waddle directly across the street so you can time it to make it to watch the sunset. Spectacular! Danny(the bf) and I not being native to Fl, between the two of us, we've tried nearly every Mexican restaurant/hole in the wall/shack in the Clearwater area. None of them are really even okay. But this place... They know what they're doing. The details are important to us -the rice and beans the ambiance..etc. I definitely am the person who judges a Mexican restaurant solely off their rice and beans believe that! The complimentary (warm)chips and salsa are amazing. I typically order the Mar y Tierra (asada and shrimp plate) and Danny will order shredded beef tacos and they always deliver. Food wise, we've never been disappointed, although service can be just a tad spotty especially on weekends which is pretty much any establishment at peak time. Not enough to deter us though. The queso blanco is melty and hot and they have a fair selection of alcohol. The margarita the one time we ordered it was nice and strong. The rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the beans weren't too watery or too dry. ¡Perfecto Los Mexicanos.!.. We'll see you again soon!

First of all when we arrived there's lots of negative signage. Not inviting when your on vacation at a nice beach. Food was horrible with a couple exceptions: Negatives: Salsa was watered down ketchup Meat in entrees was rubbery and under cooked and so full of cilantro that's all we could taste. Our waitress seemed very stressed Bathrooms were dirty Then I googled afterward. He negative reviews all appear to be correct! With slight differences. This place seems to be a consistent let down. I blame myself for not reviewing this restaurant before hand. However thank you To the restaurant for one thing: I will never go into another strange restaurant ever again without checking the reviews.

Went here for a friends birthday. What a disaster of a meal. I believe that this place isn't really a restaurant but really a front for the Mexican drug cartel - it's the only explanation to make food this bad. The tacos are literally just a piece of flour... and fish... There's no veggies, no nothing. The cartel is trying to cut their overhead but not really making food. The place is really decorated though, almost overtly so and the restaurant's servers are all authentically mexican - more reason's though for it to be a front for a drug cartel than an actual legitimate restaurant. I would never come back here, ever for the food. Maybe, for the possible drugs.

Have been going here many years. Used to be quite good, but now has been going steadily down hill. Quality of food recently has been horrible. Restaurant not clean. Recently failed several heath inspections. Don't know what went wrong, but won't be going back anytime soon.

Service was great. We had carne asada and the vegetarian Letter A. Steak had ok flavor not the best cut, beans were good. Sauce on vegetarian was very good . Overall ok

My parents are in town visiting and since we are by the beach, naturally they wanted Mexican food (I already had several good seafood options picked out). The restaurant was pretty busy but we were able to get a table right away. Service was excellent. Our waitress was not hispanic but after she heard me talking to my parents in Spanish and translating, she spoken to them in Spanish the rest of the night and did a very good job. The restaurant has very festive Mexican decorations. Drinks were very good - had Margaritas on the rocks. they immediately start you off with a huge basket of tortillas chips and a big jar of salsa which had a little spice to it. My daughter wanted cheese for her chips and they had the Cheese Dip out for her in a couple of minutes. The supreme burritos were good. My daughter enjoyed her tacos. My parents both got the Carnitas and I must say, they were excellent. My mom's was plain and my father got his with Ranchero sauce. If you are daring, you can also get it with a haberno sauce. I've read some of the negative reviews but after eating here several times now, I have never had any issues with the food and service has always been really good.

I am caught between three and four stars. Service was terrible but food was good. The place looks like it could use a good scrubbing down which makes me a bit nervous. Prices are reasonable and drinks are strong. Would probably return.

Went here not sure what to expect. Margaritas and food were excellent - service also good....definitely will be back.

I always get excited when I discover a new mexican restaurant. I get so excited I start hearing Tijuana music in my head the minute I pull into the parking lot. But it was like hearing a needle scratch across a record when I walked in and heard...The Bee Gees?! Our waitress was very unfriendly but she did bring us 2 bowls of salsa for our chips which is always a plus in my book. We were there during happy hour so our drinks were 2 for one and they also offer lunch specials. I ordered the Speedy Gonzales which is an enchilada, crunchy taco and your choice of rice or beans. The enchilada and beans were ok but the taco meet just tasted like ground beef with no flavor. But hey, it was $5.99 so I'm not complaining.

Amazing! We started with the cheese dip and it was perfect. My mother and I got meals to share and still had a bunch of left overs. We got chicken and steak fajitas, a taco, chalupa, a cheese and a beef chimichanga, and a stuffed pepper (can't think of the name). It was all really good and at a good price! Since moving here I can't wait to go back!

  • Ann A.

Worst Mexican food I have had in a long time. The burrito was bland and the sauce was so bad on the enchilada I couldn't eat it. Will not go back!

We were staying in Clearwater Beach and wanted Mexican. My phone found this place and it was an easy drive. I had a taco and enchiladas. While I like enchiladas, the taco was great. Only down side was poor air conditioning, but hay it was like Mexico.

Plenty of great dishes and all at a fair price. Family friendly and the kids also enjoyed their meals. Service was timely and friendly. If you are in the area give this place a try and you will enjoy it.

Ignore all the reviews is right! I live in the area, not some grumbly tourist. I've been eating at this restaurant since it opened. It's been good to great since day one and still is. Very consistent food, nice staff. Margaritas are excellent. My favorite is the Fajitas Los Cabos for two people. I also enjoy the chimichangas. Very reasonably priced for on the beach tourist area. Give them a try, it's a great place!

Ok my daughters and wife ordered the fajitas. They both really liked them. Wife said chicken was not dry and it was tasty. I ordered the carnitas. They were very good rice and beans were tasty. Did I mention the have Negra Modelo on tap and serve it as a pitcher!!! Very good!! Only bad thing is that we got full fast. Good job!

This was one of the most unpleasant Mexican meals I've ever had and I usually love Mexican food. The person who waited on us was utterly charmless and unresponsive. The place wasn't busy at the time, but he was preooccupied and uninterested. I got three enchiladas (I think) and they were filled with ground beef, not shredded beef, rolled and covered in a red sauce. No garnish, no rice, no beans. Just three rolled things stuck on a plate and covered with sauce. The food was not bad, but nothing special either, but the service and atmosphere were really lousy. We don't recommend and will not go there again.

While at the beach recently, I was thinking about eating tacos on the beach on mexico! Turned out finding a Mexican place near where we were was quite challenging. Found this place on Yelp, and after mixed reviews decided to give it a shot. Glad I did! Food was awesome.. The place had a very authentic feel to it, even the fact that they had floor a/c in place cause apparently the air was broke. Cheeps and salsa were delicious, as well as the queso dip. I got the lunch steak fajitas and they were tasty too. In fact I tried something from everyone's plate at my table. The server was kind of slow, as it was a slow Saturday and he was talking care of the whole place.. I'd definitely go back!! Oh yeah, one more thing, just make sure you go to the bathroom before you eat here. Finally, I just got water to drink and survived without incident..

I have been here several times, and the food is amazing. The drinks are great too, especially the two for one specials. They are not cheap with their tequila. Don't believe anything of the negative reviews.

Let me first start by saying I am from Colorado.. I love TexMex.. But I also love true traditional Mexican. This was somewhere lost in the middle. Chicken burrito was chicken sautéed in salsa until tender. It was tasty.. But not Mexican. More american fare.. The beef burrito was a Carne guisada. It was very strong in flavor. Once again it was smothered in what looks to be a white cheese sauce. The refried beans did not taste homemade. The salsa is watered down. There seems to be no onions or Jalapeños or spice.. It's almost like a spaghetti sauce with a little salt and citrus.. Would love to see some pep in it! I gave it Three stars, because it is the best I've had here. In Colorado I would give it a two for fantastic service... Yet, not any higher. So if you are looking for Real Mexican or Tex Mex.... This is in-between..

Always friendly - decent Margaritas but a bit on the weak side. Excellent Tamales, come here for those. After many years in Texas always in search of good Mexican food. It's been a challenge. It's not that hard - good salsa and chips are the place to start... Service is fair and the prices are good, nicely decorated, I think 3.5 * would be more fair for this establishment. If they improved their salsa and Margaritas they could really improve their customer base (just a friendly suggestion)

  • Jimmy P.

We are from Texas so we know what we are getting in to when we walk in to a place like this in another state. Well the negative reviews of the salsa are right on except it is more like watered down cocktail sauce but it is great to dip the shrimp fajitas in. The atmosphere made us feel like we were in Juarez. Local TVs on, Spanish radio station playing, babies crying, festive, and then fireworks going off outside simulating gunfire in the streets. The Texanas fajitas were great! The pico de gallo had no pico. The service was great and it is very affordable.

I feel that I eat here at least once a week. My son loves there food and so do I. I am not a big fan of Mexican food but this place is just that good that I can eat here once a week. :)

I cannot rave about this place enough. Went here with a party of six and for 2 (HUGE) pitchers of margaritas (literally I think there were 12 glasses in each), 6 entrees, salsa, guacamole, queso and shots of patron it was only $130 (not bad in my book). Not only that, but the food was delicious, the staff was beyond friendly, and they have a trio who walk around singing and playing music (they do a killer Santana cover!). We drank, we ate, we laughed, and they even brought out a big sombrero and dessert for my mom's birthday (much to her embarrassment). The food was delicious, but pretty standard. The only thing I can complain about is the fact that some of the entrees come with rice OR beans (not both) and I asked to have both and they said they couldn't do that (Hmmm...?). We had the following and there were no complaints from us! Tilapia tacos with rice, steak fajitas, bean burritos, chicken enchiladas, chicken chimichanga, and steak enchiladas. Also the salsa and chips are complimentary and they keep bringing more! The queso and guac were gone within seconds of hitting the table! I would love to go back and do it again soon!

Ignore all of reviews!!! This place is fantastic!! My husband and I are in town for Spring Training so we aren't very familiar with the area. When we got into town, we drove pass this Mexican restaurant. 2 for 1 margaritas was posted on their sign so we had to try this place! We're from San Antonio so we know good Mexican food!! From the queso (cheese dip), salsa, enchiladas, and the chalupas, everything was delicious. And you MUST order the sopapilla with ice cream for dessert! By far the best I've ever had!!! Hope you enjoy as much as we did!!

I have not eaten here, but often go for the Margaritas, salsa and chips. Delicious! Wait staff people are friendly and pleasant. It is always a good place to hang with friends and celebrate Cinco de Mayo all year long! Those in the group who have eaten here, give it a thumb's up! The only reason I gave three stars is because I have yet to try their menu.

  • Nicole B.

Worst 'Mexican' food ever. The margarita was just awful. And the guacamole had no tomatoes or onion; all I could taste was avocado and cilantro and it was almost soupy. Server wasn't very friendly either--kind of stoic. Definitely will not be going back.

My boyfriend and I were very disappointed when we dined here. There was one waitress on shift who would sit at the bar on her phone texting even though the place was busy. After we ordered... Not even 5 minutes went by and our food was delivered. It was the worst tasting meal I have ever had on Indian rocks beach. My steak casadilla (which I paid extra for) was rubbery, fatty, and tasteless. My boyfriend got floutas that were fried batter stuffed with 2 small pieces of meat.... No cheese. When we asked the waitress for cheese she said they didn't have any. What? Plus.... Preparing 2 meals takes longer then 5 minutes. If I had to guess the meals are all pretty much pre-made... Yuck. Too expensive and not a good meal.

I ordered the 3 shrimp tacos!!! Omg. They were soooo GOOD. They were sautéed and had a heavenly smell that sent my taste buds in a frenzy!!! Ask for their "hot" sauce. It was soooo good. It had a distinct taste of garlic, it's not hot at first and then it kicks up on ya. It's really good. Our waiter kept forgetting stuff and we kept having to ask other waiters for everything. Prices are Okay. I'll come back and try their lunch menu soon.

Service here is EXTREMELY spotty. Sometimes the wait is long and it takes forever for drink orders, silverware, etc (enough so that my father has been known to get up and begin serving the table, ha!) The food, however, is typically pretty darn good! Since we usually aren't running on a strict time schedule while visiting the beach house, the less than perfect service probably doesn't bother me as much as it would elsewhere. (Just set your expectations low!) They have a extra hot salsa, too, but you have to know to ask for it. I love their vegetarian plate A, which includes a delish tostada. I believe Mondays are their 2 for 1 margarita nights. Obviously they aren't very strong, but still a decent deal.

  • Stephanie M.

Food was very good, the portions are huge. The atmosphere was pretty authentic mexican. The service could use a little help. It was a bit slow and the main waitress wasn't very talkative (could be a language barrier). Overall a good place for mexican food- especially on the beach.

I have never dined in myself. Always takeout, always fast, always good ! Top 5 picks: Chicken Chimichanga... Burrito Fajita... Flautas Mexicanas... Triple Fajita Chicken Molle

Their margaritas are premade and stored in a large bucket that sits OPEN in the sink behind the bar. We only saw this after we ordered. Margarita was very sour and did not taste fresh. Did not order any food after seeing that. Bar was very dirty as well.

Great food and service! Like most Mexican restaurants, the food portions are huge, but the prices are very reasonable! Three of us ordered the super combo. I don't remember everything that was on the plates (it wouldn't all fit on one), but I think it was a taco, two enchiladas, a chalupa, and chili rellano. It came with the standard beans and rice. It was a LOT of food. The chips were crisp and flavorful and the cheese dip was hot and just the right amount of spice. My sister ordered the taco salad and loved hers as well. The Margarita's were good also. I'm so glad we didn't pay attention to the three star review for this place! I can't think of anything that would make it less than four stars unless you don't like Mexican food. We will return for sure!

  • David K.

I went here looking for what I call authentic American Mexican food. The place did not have working air conditioning or they did not have it on. After being at the beach all day people need to cool down. We were quickly seated but did not receive any chips, water, salsa, or attention. We eat out a lot. We know when to bail. We walked out and I bet they didn't even ask where we went. I won't be back.

    (1)
  • Tyberius H.

I completely enjoyed my dinner. The Azteca soup was spectacular, but just get the cup...it's big enough. I then got the super combo, which was huge. The price was great. I loved everything. I highly recommend this place.

  • Shawnie M.

Not as good as the reviews I read Margarita wasn't really good . My husband ordered the gold margarita and had to order a shot of grand mariner to give it flavor. Cheese dip was very runny with little flavor. Waiter was very in attentive. One of the waitresses was sitting at the bar putting on her makeup!

We love Mexican food and we always miss it when we are on the beach...until we found this place! The queso is delicious and melts in your mouth! We have always had great food!

good food.. drinks and chips . 2 for one marguritas too.. ask for eric the server.... pretty authentic mexican food by better beef than you get in mexico.. if u are on gulf blvd (the gulf beaches) and like mexican be sure to go here !!!

Fajitas for 2 are excellent, Guac probably isn't homemade, 2 for 1 margs are strong, don't look the chicken straight in the eyes.

We continue to explore the culinary treats here on the west coast of Florida. Mexican food is by far one of my most favorite foods to eat. I've eaten Mexican food all over the southwest and had had great food and not so great food. We have been weary about having Mexican food here and decided to give it a try. In the end we should of went next door to slyce. We walk in waited in line to sit down. The place is dark, dusty, and rustic. The lady seats us at the table next to the door. Since it was cold out and busy. I kindly asked her if she had another table. She sighed and rolled her eyes. Reluctantly she gave us a table after mumbing something in Spanish while looking over the seat layouts. We were seated in then back next to the kitchen. Not bad. Just don't look in the kitchen. Is was pretty dirty and we were looking for bugs. We sat and the chips were delivered promptly. We read through the menu and devoured a basket of chips and realized that no one came over to take our drink order. We asked two people if they were our server and one gentleman said no. But I'll take your order. Thank you! Short guy with glasses. Finally our waiter showed up and we told him that someone else came to take our order. He stormed off sorta angry. Food came out promptly and it was decent and so why i didn't give a one star. The food was only ok. Not anything you would see in the southwest and so if your looking to compare you will be seriously disappointed. Food was cheap and average. Service less than par. There are plenty of other places to explore here. This one we Will not be back.

Group of four went about 2pm. Not very busy or anything. Service was incredibly slow from the get go. After 8-10 minutes we finally got drinks, then in another 5 minutes chips and salsa and our order was taken. The salsa was a big disappointment compared to most Mexican restaurants, as was the quest blanco. After 35 minutes we finally got our food. Of the four of us, nobody was satisfied. It tasted as if there was no seasoning or flavor to the food, very bland. After we left we spoke with some locals staying in our building and they informed us they always get terrible reviews. Additionally, they were frequently on the dirtiest restaurants list. Will never go back

  • Sue J.

Very disappointed!!! I ordered a steak fajita, the steak was so overbooked, trying to chew it was very unpleasant. The steak was tasteless, it does not appear they used any seasonings in its preparation. The guacamole was so runny... So strange for a Mexican restaurant.... Our server was a very pleasant young man, unfortunately the chef is terrible!!

this place ba-lows! we waited close to 2 hours for tacos, rice & beans. Come on, any mexican restaurant can crank out a speedy gonzales in 10 minutes. It would be one thing if this were authentic mexican, but we are talking below average run of the mill beans and rice place - you know order by number type of stuff. In addition to the long wait the staff sucked, no apologies - we asked to see the manager and our waiter said she didn't want to come to the table - stellar! any way we hooked our waiter up with the appropriate tip - zero. Unfortunately there's not another mexican restaurant really close - probably the only reason these guys are still in business. Wish I could give zero stars but was forced to give at least one.

We regularly eat in the area and when we walk past this place on our way to the beach we are always stunned by how packed it is. I'm only writing this in hopes of warning off some poor lost tourist. The food is horrible. We ate there once and didn't finish our meals. I'm relatively certain frozen Mexican fare from the store would be better. The servers could make the cast of Orange is the New Black run for cover.

Good food, good prices. today I had the beef taco salad for lunch very filling and good deal for $6.50 Yesterday I had a chimichanga, delicious also, I will definitely return if in the area.

If you like getting food poisoning from guacamole, eating soggy nachos, & not getting refills from a joke of a wait staff then go here. It's so bad it's almost funny. DO NOT USE A CREDIT CARD HERE-I lived here for years & this place got in trouble for adding tips onto the credit card bills after you leave, illegal, bad, wrong!!! I've gone many times in search of some kind of good mexican dish...not going to find it here. Or anywhere on the beach for that matter. (La Terrasita is ok) This food is overly salted, I like salt but this not edible, the chile rellanos are not cooked, GROSS. EVERYTHING IS GROSS. The wait staff is so horrible & nasty we joke about what they do to the food...if only the roaches on the walls could talk. We only go here because our friends like the margaritas 2 for 1 (not always on sale, watch the sign.)

My wife and I ate here last night and loved it. We don't eat Mexican often so we are picky. Everything was great. The food was home made and delicious. The portions were huge. We took enough home for another meal. The margaritas were great. The service was very good. We will be back.

We must have eaten here a hundred times. My husband loves Mexican and it is close to our house, it's on the beach and the food was always great. Not to mention the awesome margaritas. The problem here, and the reason we stopped going after being faithful customers for years and years, is the service. Or lack there of. It's so bad across the board unless we were able to sit in Lupe's section which was rare. Our wait staff was never friendly, they would disappear for long periods of time, never check on us or refill drinks. It was like we were an imposition. Once another patron asked us if we came often...we said that we did and then we were asked if the service was always "this bad". One of the final times we were there, our server brought out our meal while talking on a cell phone. When we checked out I commented to our server that we were regulars and still always got bad service. She replied, well maybe next time. There hasn't been a next time. What a bummer.

Absolutely the best mexican food I have had. Chicken poblanos are great and the chicken fajitas are excellent. I saw the other negative reviews and I agree that some of the staff is a little coarse - maybe overworked?... but hey, deal with it, it's a mexican restaurant. Our waiter was great and in spite of the communication barriers, was very happy and accomodating to every little detail. I travel the country doing software deployments and every city I go to, I always check out the stuffed chicken poblanos or rellenos. The best are at this resaurant.

Worst meal possibly ever, and I am very easy to please. Not too busy, service was ok. Chicken chimi served with a watery cheese sauce. Quesidella fajita soft, weak, watery. Sour cream, guac, lettuce was served hot and melting. I had a few bites and set the plate aside. Neither the waiter or manager came over to ask if everything was ok or could they offer me something else. Avoid this place at all costs. You have been warned! Villa galace or Tapas garden both excellent alternatives.

The best thing about this restaurant was the mariachi band--they were amazing. The service is surly and unhelpful and the food is terrible. We found a nail (as in construction) in our sour cream. We waved down a waiter--who turned out the be the owner's son--and he just took it from us and walked away, no apology, no offer to bring a fresh, nail-free bowl of sour cream, nothing. When we went up front to pay, the owner did apologize and took something off the bill, but it was a terrible experience. The food was blah, overcooked and not very well seasoned. Best to skip this!

I don't understand the bad reviews, Los Mexicanos is very good. The quality of the food is excellent. The prices are low and the portions are huge. The margaritas are fantastic (even moreso when you can get them on the 2 for 1 special)! I suppose the service could be a little faster and that the decor could be a little more tacky - er more "chain-Mexican-restauranty" - but, overall, it is a "must visit" restaurant for anyone who enjoys quality Mexican food and/or really good value.

  • Felipe G.

I actually never got to eat here and by looking at the other Yelp reviews it was probably better that way. We tried to go to Los Mexicanos in an effort to try out a new Mexican place since there aren't that many in the area. Unfortunately, we forgot it was Spring Break and Gulf Blvd was pretty jam packed, and as you passed restaurant after restaurant they were totally full but surprisingly it wasn't that difficult getting into the parking lot at Los Mexicanos. This was red flag number one of many. It turns out the place is barely full inside (just a handful of seated tables), but the majority of the people there were all waiting by the host station / cash register. In the 25 minutes we stood around waiting for service we witnessed numerous angry heated conversations between staff and the people waiting to be seated and those who were already eating. It was pretty incredible watching the host ignore us and others, while yelling at some customers and running around like a chicken with their head cut off but not actually doing anything to serve anyone. I don't think I've ever seen such a poorly run place. We ended up never being offered a menu to look at while we waited, actually no one ever interacted with us. During the time standing around waiting to be potentially yelled at I got an opportunity to see that the appearance of the place was pretty dismal, dark and dirty. And the food that I did see get served looked sad. Not to mention the whole place smelled like dirty mop water. Sounds awesome right!.... We ended up heading away from the beaches up Ulmerton road to our old standby Carmelita's. I'm under the impression that the only reason Los Mexicanos exists is because of tourists who don't know any better. Unless this was an isolated incident (and the other reviews don't contradict this) don't make the same mistake.

I came here just a few weeks ago when I was visiting from New England. I was craving some mexican food since I can never find any up north. We happened upon Los Mexicanos Mexican Restaurant on St.Pete Beach. The parking was terrible, the lot so small once you back up you face death on Gulf Blvd with the traffic flying by. Really hardly anywhere to park safely here. Inside the restaurant you could sense the corny atmosphere. There was a banner on one wall that said Happy Fiesta. Yeah...lovely. The waitress seemed like she was tired and bored, I don't blame her. I didn't order a margarita but I saw them on other tables around the restaurant, they didn't look very good. I ordered an enchilada and a taco. The enchilada was very bland with grey-brown meat and had no taste at all despite being drenched in some kind of stringy cheese. Where was the enchilada sauce? My dad was dining with me and he pushed his plate to the side after a few bites. The waitress didn't even ask why we hadn't finished our entire meal when she came to collect our plates. I assume she sees this a lot. Unfortunately I will not be dining here again.

Me and my wife have eaten here about 8 times. While it's better than most in the area where I've eaten, it's below average compared to most larger cities. The place looks clean and the atmosphere is okay. As is the case with most of the restaurants in the area, the margarita's are watered down - drink your mixed drinks at home and save the money.

We tried three Mexican places in our long end-of-July weekend here. I would have to rank this one last. That's really a shame because I think this has the best location... Right across the street from the Gulf Beach and near yummy ice cream shops. It isn't that the food was bad at all. It was quite good. But it was just slightly below the quality of Los Mariachis and Senor Locos, both down the road a bit. The decor was OK, and I liked the bright colors and wide halls and chunky booth seating. I would go here again.

Some friends told us Los Mexicanos wasn't very good, we figured we'd try it anyway (our friends are from Chicago... what do they know about mexican?) It was great!!! My husband and I shared an appetizer and had an entree each and a couple margaritas each. The portion sizes were pretty big. It was too much food for us, we were so full when we left; it was so good. It isn't very expensive. We will definitely be back for more!!!!

It is a Monday afternoon, the sun is glinting in hard from over the water, and we pull into a deserted side parking lot that we assume must be Los Mexcanos, after mistaking two other restaurants for our destination on our southerly path down Gulf Blvd (tiny signs abound!). Inside, we are greeted by a pleasant but tired-looking manager, so I assume the lunch rush has just ended or they have been whipping up some killer food in the back. We are seated right away, and a basket of warm chips and a small vase of salsa fill the table presently. The chips are deep-fried and delicious, so much so that we ask for a refill even after the main course is served, and use them to mop up the rice and refried beans. Good, hearty, home-cooked Mexican fare that is cooked up fast and hot, no doubt via the rapid exhaustion of cooking oils (so don't kid yourself into thinking anything is low-fat!). Margaritas [on the rocks] weren't fake-tasting, and were cold, medium strong, and pretty tasty. Good stuff.

This has got to be the worse restaurant I have ever eaten at. The service was poor, and our waitress acted like she was doing us a favor by waiting on us. When we sat down the table needed cleaning so I asked her to wipe it down. She suggested we move to another table. The food left a lot to be desired. No flavor. For a place on the beach I really don't understand how it's still open.

We visited this restaurant a few days ago in the early evening wanting to beat the dinner rush. The group consisted of 3 adults,1 young adult & 3 children. Our waitress Guadalupe sat us down with a bit of an attitude for starters, mind you my husband & I are always very polite & tend to try to engage our servers due to both of us spending years in the hospitality/training industry. My husband is currently a Sales Director for one of the largest Orlando Resorts,as well as Mexican so service & attitude is not lost on him.Our efforts did not seem to work, we figured she was just having a bad day..oh well. When our drinks were brought out our server mistakenly brought out an additional coke, but forgot to get a straw for a kiddie cup. We (politely) asked her for one,and she just pulled the one out of the xtra coke & stuck it in the kiddie juice cup! Strike 1. We ordered a queso fundido w/chorizo upon the first bite my husband had to spit it out discretely in his napkin. The cheese was horrendous & the chorizo was not edible.....we called our server since she seemed to disappear after the orders were placed. She returned with my daughters nachos w/cheese & got upset when we told her about the queso fundido, while shes fuming about that we looked at the nachos & it was disgusting!! It was a milky white liquid that had been poured over their table nachos & heated up,it had the look of something left in the microwave too long. If you lifted the nachos on top the bottom appeared to be soup, the cheese was liquid & pooled on the bottom. Far from any nachos & cheese WE have ever ordered At this point my husband got up to find the manager since we were seriously worried about what our food would look like.Apparently Guadalupe was giving him a heads up since he charged our table with his arms raised telling us that if we didnt want to pay we could just leave! When I tried to show him our nachos & explain...his response was"we've been here 40yrs and nobody complains, if you dont like it you can leave". Our food was being delivered at that precise moment & "Lupe" chimed in...."look, all this wasted!". I could see my husband getting upset by the minute & I ushered our party out. As we left we placed $20 on the table to cover the 2 margaritas (we never did drink the 2nd one on their 2 @1 offer since we left) & 3 juices that we had ordered. Apparently this was'nt enough since Guadalupe caught us as we were walking out to charge us for $4 for the basket of nachos & salsa you get upon being seated. This was by far the most horrendous experience we have ever had in a restaurant. The manager was offensive, rude & vulgar. The service was a disaster & the food inedible. The only thing that was okay was the margarita & you need a few of those to even consider tackling the rest this so called Mexican restaurant has to offer. 2 Thumbs WAY down.

This place is absolutely horrendous. I was really craving Mexican and unfortunately Mexican restaurants are far and few between on this side of the bridge. We decide to give this place a shot and I truly regret it. We walked in and waited with a huge crowd at the door, but not for a lack of seating. Instead it was due to their horrible service and lack of organization. When we were finally seated the table next to us was getting into an argument with the owner who was yelling back -- this should have been a clear sign to go. Our waiter was constantly MIA and didn't bring us out any chips. When he finally remembered to get around to it we already had our main dishes. The food was bland and my order came out completely wrong. It wasn't even what I had ordered. After telling our waiter and having him come back with a second dish (still not what I ordered) we gave up and just ate what was edible and left. Please don't waste your time here. After telling friends of our bad experience I heard nothing but similar stories.

There aren't many Mexican restaurants in the area so we're glad this one is as good as it is. The menu has all the typical favorites and everything is delicious. The Super Combination platter includes a chalupa, chile relleno, beef taco, beef and cheese enchilada, gaucamole salad, rice, and beans for only $9.75. There are several vegetarian options. Good service and reasonable prices help make this one of our regular dining spots.

The restaurant is very dirty. Service is slow, but nice. The food is hit or miss. If you have a choice, keep driving.

I completely enjoyed my dinner. The Azteca soup was spectacular, but just get the cup...it's big enough. I then got the super combo, which was huge. The price was great. I loved everything. I highly recommend this place.

I am caught between three and four stars. Service was terrible but food was good. The place looks like it could use a good scrubbing down which makes me a bit nervous. Prices are reasonable and drinks are strong. Would probably return.

Good job!

this place ba-lows! we waited close to 2 hours for tacos, rice & beans.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
